Glo Minerals Powder Foundation

November 3, 2015

Happy November, all! I can’t believe it’s already November. This year is just flying by– I’m not even used to saying it’s 2015, and 2016 is just around the corner. Wut.

This week I wanted to review a product I have been using for a little over a month now. I love to use mineral powder foundations, and I have found yet another that I enjoy. This one is by Glo Minerals, which happens to be the makeup we use at my school. To be honest, I hadn’t heard of this line until we had our makeup week at school, but I was/am really impressed with this company.

Glo Minerals uses pharmaceutical grade ingredients, triple milled micronized minerals, and every Glo Minerals product is non-comedogenic. Furthermore, their base formulations don’t contain perfumes or chemical dyes, so it’s suitable for sensitive skin types. OH, and they’re cruelty free. I know, I sound like an infomercial, but I’m really impressed with their products.

As for the powder foundation, it’s formulated with Vitamins A, C, E and Green Tea Extract to provide nutrients that maintain skin’s radiance. It has a sheer to full coverage (yes, full!). I use a kabuki brush to apply this foundation, and for anywhere that needs a little extra concealing I use a smaller foundation brush to pack it on (it works really well at concealing blemishes, so I don’t need to use a separate concealer).

I tend to get a solid 8 hours of wear out of this. I do have dry skin, but this powder actually doesn’t cling to my flaky self, which is nice. It leaves a nice semi-matte finish as well, so I don’t look like the reptile I am.

At $45, this is a little more on the expensive side, but this particular mineral powder foundation is pressed (instead of loose), which eliminates the needless loss of powder flying into the air (and/or your lungs) as you swirl it around the lid (ahem, Bare Minerals, ahem).

The more I wear this foundation, the more impressed I am with it. If powder foundations are more your style, try this one out. It’s healthy for your skin, and works amazingly well!

What’s your favorite powder foundation?

Jenny

Minnie Mouse Costume

October 30, 2015

IMG_2544.1 IMG_2557.1Happy Halloween Eve! Halloween is my favoriiiiite time of year. I LOVE IT SO MUCH. I wish the Halloween season could last longer than it does. BUT ALAS.

This year I’ve been pretty lazy about basically everything that doesn’t pertain to school… and even though I am wearing this costume to school, I chose something that would be quick and easy, so I wouldn’t have to sacrifice any sleep. Because sleep = true love.

I’m not a huge fan of Disney anything. If you know me, Harry Potter is my thing. BUUUUT, Minnie Mouse is cute, and this costume was too simple to pass up.

I ordered the mouse ears and the skirt from Etsy (look how cute that bow is on the back of the skirt!). I purchased the long tshirt from Target, as well as the tights, and the shoes are from Payless. If you already have the shirt, tights, and shoes, then the rest of the costume would be really simple!

As for my makeup, I applied it as usual, then added a black circle on my nose with some gel eyeliner, then I used a matte black eye shadow to set it. For my lips I used a pinky-red on the center of my lips, and concealer on the rest (I used translucent loose powder to set it). I then used a white liquid liner (I used the one by NYX Cosmetics) to add the cartoon-ish white highlights on the nose and lips. Annnnd, done.

Cute, easy, and as sophisticated as a mouse can be, right?

What are you being for Halloween?

Jenny

Collaboration

Autumn Bold Lip // Collab

October 24, 2015

Wooooooah, it’s been over 2 weeks since my last post. That’s the longest I’ve ever gone without a new post. I’m sowwy. I’ve been so busy with school and pretending like I have a life, oh… and celebrating my birthday (thanks to my mom for birthing me!)… that I haven’t had the time to really get on here and post something. But alas, I am back.

This post is all about bold lipstick for a collaboration I’ve done with several other bloggers (I’ll link their blogs below). I decided to go for a more autumn inspired bold lipstick, so I chose to use the MAC matte lipstick in the shade Diva (thanks to my friend, Caitlin, for this lipstick!). It’s a deep red that’s perfect for autumn. I mean, look at it.

I’d never used a MAC lipstick (I know, who am I?) until Caitlin used it on me during makeup week at school. I think what I love most about this particular MAC lipstick is the staying power of it. I mean, I ate a veggie footlong sub from Subway after taking these photos and my lipstick didn’t budge, even when I unhinged my jaw and ate like the ghoul I am.

I also love that it’s a fairly inexpensive lipstick. I expected it to cost a lot more than it does, but it’s just a mere $17 (not bad, amiright?), and since you don’t need to reapply every 5 minutes, it’ll last a long while.

As for the rest of my makeup, I used:
Glo Minerals foundation powder (I’ll review it soon)
NYX Cosmetics blush in Apricot
Lorac Unzipped Palette
Clinique Liquid Liner (review here)
CoverGirl Star Wars Mascara (it’s a thing, and I love it)
Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Medium Brown (the NYX Micro Brow Pencil is better, but I’m out)
