Review: Lorac Unzipped Palette

September 12, 2014

This is my second ever review, and I decided to do it on the Lorac Unzipped palette because of how pleased I am with it. Firstly, I want to mention that when I went to Ulta last week my intentions were to buy a single shade of matte burgundy eye shadow. Guess what? You can’t find a single shade. It only comes in palettes. I even had 2 Ulta employees help me look for this desirable matte shade, and we came up short. SO. I was forced to purchase a palette. I was pretty upset, since I didn’t want most of the other shades in any of the palettes containing this color.

However, I decided to go with this Lorac palette since I’d never used their products before, and was tipped off by an instagrammer that their products were well worth it. Hey, it also comes with a decently sized eye shadow primer. So… I coughed up the $40 for the one eye shadow.

The instant I got home I took off the eye makeup I had on, and reapplied using this Lorac palette, and I was hooked from the first brush stroke!

Here’s why:

Highly Pigmented

Color payoff is, just, woah. I’ll admit, I put way too much product on my brush the first go around. I put about the same amount of product as I do when using Urban Decay shadows, and I thought U.D. was intense. They have nothing on Lorac. A tiny bit goes a long way.

Silky Texture

I’ve never been one to really care about the texture/feel of an eye shadow. I just want it on my eyelids. But this eye shadow is like velvet. Ah, so smooth.

Blends Easily

Does this need much explanation? With some eye shadows you need to blend them out/together for quite a while to find that happy medium. With these, a few swipes with a blending brush and you’re done!

Shades Perfect for Autumn

These shadows are perfect for fall, and you can create an endless amount of looks. These colors would be flattering on all skin tones and all eye colors. Go swatch some at your local beauty store and tell me I’m wrong!

Matte and Shimmer

I’m the kind of person who’s not a huge fan of full-on shimmer. I need to have some matte in the mix, and I desperately wanted some more red-ish colors in matte. With this palette I have a couple burgundy looking colors, and a red-brown color (all matte). The shimmers are just gorgeous, but not over the top.

So, I satisfied my need for a burgundy eye shadow, and also my unknown needs for every other color in this palette. Would I recommend this palette? Yes, yes, annnnnnd yes.

Here’s a photo of me with the Lorac Unzipped palette eye shadow. I’m wearing “undercover” on my brow bone, “unbelievable” on my lid, “unconditional” on my crease and lower lash line, and “unbridled” in the outer corner of my eye (I applied this shade very lightly).

Thank you so much for your nice comment on my blog.

The Lorac palette looks so nice. Unfortunetaly that brand isn’t aviable at Germany and I’m no friend of online buying – i like to travel and buy exotic makeup brands as a souvenir 😉
